WSSC Water requires every testable assembly to be tested when it's installed and once a year after — plus any time it's repaired, replaced, or relocated. The report is due within 30 business days, and only a WSSC-registered technician can file it. That's us: we test, we file, and we send you a copy.

Annual testing
Backflow testing, done to the standard.
We test every assembly type on the WSSC list with a calibrated differential-pressure gauge. Plan on about 20–30 minutes per assembly, including a short shut-off of the water it protects. Properties with several assemblies are done in one visit.
We're testers first. If your assembly passes, the visit is done — we don't go looking for work. It's the same discipline that kept unnecessary assemblies off the federal programs our team ran.
Schedule
Send the property address and roughly how many assemblies. We confirm a date — often the same week.
Test on site
A calibrated-gauge test on each assembly. Pass or fail is confirmed on the spot, with the readings recorded.
We file with WSSC
A passing report is transmitted to WSSC Water on your behalf, well inside the 30-business-day deadline.
Repair only if needed
If something fails, we quote the fix — usually same-visit — then retest and refile. You're never sold work you don't need.
If the test turns something up
Repairs, replacements, and new installs — handled by the same crew.

Our team got its start in the mid-1990s building and running cross-connection control programs for federal facilities across the Mid-Atlantic. That track record brought in other federal and defense agencies to set up the same kind of program.

Does WSSC really require annual testing?
Yes. The WSSC Plumbing and Fuel Gas Code requires every testable assembly to be tested when it's installed and every year after — and again after any repair, replacement, or relocation. The report is due within 30 business days of the test.
Who is allowed to test my assembly in Montgomery or Prince George's County?
In WSSC territory, only a cross-connection technician who is registered with WSSC Water and also licensed as a journeyman or master plumber may test or repair a backflow assembly and file the report. Our technicians hold both, and the filing is transmitted electronically through our registered principal master plumber.
How do I know when my test is due?
WSSC ties the due date to your installation or last-test date — usually the same month each year. WSSC mails a courtesy reminder, but the obligation sits with the property owner. Send us your address and we'll check the cycle for you.
What does a backflow test cost?
It depends on the number and type of assemblies on the property, so we quote each job rather than post a flat rate. Send the address and an assembly count and we'll come back with a firm price — there's no charge for the estimate.
What happens if my assembly fails?
We tell you on the spot, document the failure, and quote the fix. Worn checks and fouled seats are often repaired the same visit with parts on the truck; a failed body may need replacement. Once it's corrected we retest and file the passing report.
How long does a test take?
A single assembly is usually 20–30 minutes, including a brief water shut-off. Sites with multiple assemblies are scheduled together to keep total downtime short.
Do you test lawn-irrigation and fire-line backflows?
Yes. Irrigation assemblies (usually a PVB or an RP) and fire-line assemblies (double check or RP) are both on the WSSC annual testing list.
Do you work outside Montgomery and Prince George's County?
Those two counties are home base and our day-to-day territory. We also take commercial and federal projects regionally and nationwide, and have completed work internationally.
